Dr. Serife Simsek is a well-known Breast Cancer Surgeon and a board-certified General Surgeon who did her training and surgical residencies in Turkey, Italy and Spain. She is an Associated Professor of Surgery and an adjunct clinical faculty member of University of Sharjah Medical School. Dr. Simsek attained Breast Surgeon degree and her master’s degree in Breast Cancer, and Breast Cancer surgery from two famous schools, the European Institute of Oncology and University of Milan, Italy between 2000-2004.

She attained second master`s degree from Master at Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona-Spain in 2 years.

Dr. Simsek became an Associate Professor at Ankara University Hospital in Turkey and was working in the biggest private health institute in Istanbul, Turkey for 11 years; prior to moving to Dubai 10 years ago.

Dr. Simsek is a very well-known female breast surgeon, for breast conservative surgery, modified radical mastectomies, nipple sparing mastectomy, skin sparing mastectomy for breast cancer, risk reducing mastectomies for genetically high risk patients, sentinel lymph node biopsy, targeted axillary dissection, axillary clearance for breast cancer, phyllodes tumor surgery, removal of benign breast lumps like fibroadenoma, ROLL/SNOLL techniques (Radio-Occult Lesion Localization for non- palpable breast lesions and sentinel lymph nodes, breast lumps and breast diseases).

She is one of the pioneers in Gulf region using the Sentimag technology along with Magseed marker and Magtrace lymphatic tracer or breast cancer surgery, non-palpable breast lumps since the beginning.

She has excellent outcomes in her work. She follows most recent techniques and approaches with treatment of all breast complications according to international guidelines and good clinical practice rules. Dr. Simsek also offers genetic testing and counselling for high-risk cases with a family history of breast cancer. Associated Prof. Serife Simsek participates in teaching the medical students of the University of Sharjah by conducting lectures, problem- based learning (PBL) and physical skills development (PSD) sessions, bedside teaching, and procedural skills on regular basis.

Dr Simsek has continuously contributed to informing her chosen profession throughout her working life; she has worked on various breast cancer research projects including those concerned with Breast Conservation Surgery, Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy, Pregnancy and Breast cancer, Intraoperative Radiotherapy After Breast Conservative Surgery, and In situ Ductal Carcinomas Radio-Occult Lesion Localization.

She has published numerous articles in various national and international peer-reviewed Journals. Dr. Simsek is a member of the Turkish Surgical Association and various International/National Scientific/Surgical Institutions and nonprofit breast cancer organizations. She speaks Turkish, English, and Italian.
