Experience

Dr. Sergio has spent most of his career working at some of Italy’s leading medical institutions. These include the National Cancer Institute in Milan (Gastrointestinal Surgery and Liver Transplantation Unit), Istituti Clinici Zucchi in Monza, one of the country’s foremost centers for wound care and tissue engineering, and the Hospital of Merate-Lecco, where he served in both the General Surgery Department and the Emergency Room.

Dr. Sergio worked in Dubai as a surgeon and medical director at a private clinic from April 2016 onward. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sergio led two nonprofit surgical missions to India in 2011 and 2012.

He is also an active member of several international medical associations, including the Italian Association for Ulcer Care (AIUC) and the European Wound Management Association (EWMA).

Expert in treating patients with wounds, diabetic footand vascular ulcers, performing different kinds of surgical procedures and treatment such as dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane, bovine tendon collagen matrix, hyaluronic acid ester matrix, debridement, naturally-occurring urinary bladder matrix dermal substitute, Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP), Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), collagen Equine made dermal substitute, microbial cellulose burn dressings.

Qualifications

• 2024: Conferred by the President of the Italian Republic – Sir of the Order of the Star of Italy (Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia). Recognition for professional excellence and contribution to the Italian community abroad through medical service and institutional collaboration.
• 2017 to present: Appointed as trusted doctor by the General Consulate of Italy in Dubai.
• 2011: Postgraduate Diploma in General Surgery with distinction.
• 2008: Certificate at Italian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SIUMB).
