Dr. Ana Catarina Alves Moreira is a highly accomplished European Certified Physician specializing in Adult Respiratory Medicine. Recognized for her expertise, she holds the prestigious European Respiratory Society HERMES Diploma and is designated as a Somnologist-Expert in Sleep Medicine by the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS). Over the last decade, Dr. Moreira has dedicated herself to clinical practice in both governmental and private hospitals in Portugal, contributing significantly to the field.
Her professional journey includes a two-year Internal Medicine Residency followed by the successful completion of the five-year Residency Program in Pulmonology, where she worked in prominent hospitals in Porto and Lisbon, earning the National Certification (CCT) in 2020. Driven by a commitment to excellence, she furthered her expertise with a Specialization in Sports Medicine and a clinical fellowship in the Nava Respiratory Intensive Care Unit at Sant’Orsola Malpighi Hospital, Alma Mater University (Bologna). Dr. Moreira’s comprehensive experience encompasses various aspects of Respiratory Medicine, including her role as a Specialist Registrar in different healthcare settings, where she actively participated in managing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 outbreak.
With a keen interest in Sleep Medicine, Dr. Catarina Moreira has focused on broadening her knowledge in diagnosing and managing sleep disorders, particularly Sleep Apnea, Hypoventilation-Obesity Syndrome, Insomnia, and other less common disturbances. Actively engaging in research and practice, she has become an integral part of a multidisciplinary team in one of Portugal’s leading Sleep Research Centres. Driven by a commitment to holistic patient care, she continually seeks complementary medical approaches, recently completing a course in Medical Hydrology. Dr. Moreira aims to make a meaningful impact on her patients’ lives through a multidimensional approach rooted in appropriate treatment, motivation, and continuous support.
